Bachelor of Interdiscipliary Studies allows the student to choose two areas of concentration that appeal to them.  They then take a series of 4 courses described below that show them how to integrate these two areas together.

BIS301 Foundations of Interdisciplinary Studies:  In this course, I first learned what it mean to be an Interdisciplinarian.  I also learned ways that I could integrate my two areas of concentration.

BIS302 Interdisciplinary Inquiry:  In this course, we were put into groups and did a research project.  We learned how to approach a research topic from an interdisciplinary angle, develop a research tool and to write a detailed research paper.  This course also gave me quite a bit of experience working in a group and experiencing the problems as well as the positive aspects of group work.

BIS401 Applied Interdisciplinary Studies:  This course is a hands on intership.  I am currently doing my applied studies at Highland High School where I am assisting the Cooperative Office Education teacher with her course.  I assist with grading, developing material to hand out, organization, and advising students with regards to their jobs.

BIS402 Senior Seminar - Integrating Identies:  This course gave me quite a bit of experience writing papers and also looking at my different social identities.  We then took our different social identities and integrated them.

The BIS program has given me the skills to work as a member of a team, the ability to lead a group through the process of developing and completing a research paper as well as giving me numerous experience in editing while working on the various writting assignments.
